Status in the UAE, with dates

  • Jascayd (nerandomilast) has two active codes in the Abu Dhabi Department of Health drug code list (C81-E631-20994-01 and C81-E631-21071-01), release of 26 September 2026, checked 17 October 2026. (source)
  • Not found in SFDA's public Drugs List in Saudi Arabia on 17 October 2026. (source)
  • FDA approval for IPF on 7 October 2025. (source)
  • FDA approval for PPF in December 2025. (source)

What Jascayd is

Jascayd (nerandomilast) is a tablet made by Boehringer Ingelheim. It is a phosphodiesterase 4B (PDE4B) inhibitor. The FDA approved it on 7 October 2025 for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) in adults, and in December 2025 for progressive pulmonary fibrosis (PPF) in adults. The pivotal trial for PPF was FIBRONEER-ILD.

Pulmonary fibrosis is scarring of the lungs that makes breathing harder over time. Jascayd is a long-term treatment that a lung specialist starts and follows up.

How it is given and safety

The usual dose is 18 mg by mouth twice daily, about 12 hours apart, with or without food. The tablet can be swallowed whole or dispersed in water. The dose is lowered to 9 mg twice daily for people who cannot tolerate 18 mg (but not for people also taking pirfenidone, who stay on 18 mg) and for people taking strong CYP3A inhibitors. Tablets come in 9 mg and 18 mg strengths.

The US label lists no contraindications. Common side effects reported by Boehringer Ingelheim include diarrhea, COVID-19, upper respiratory infections, depression, weight loss, decreased appetite, nausea, tiredness, headache, vomiting, back pain and dizziness. Diarrhea was more frequent in people also taking nintedanib, and it was the most common reason to stop treatment.

How access works in the UAE

Because Jascayd has active codes in Abu Dhabi, start by asking the lung specialist at an Abu Dhabi hospital whether the hospital pharmacy can order it through the local supply route. A drug code shows that the product is set up in Abu Dhabi's system. It does not tell you about stock, eligibility or funding.

For hospitals in Dubai or the other emirates, the hospital pharmacy confirms the route with DHA or EDE first. If a hospital outside Abu Dhabi needs to import it:

The Emirates Drug Establishment (EDE) is the UAE's federal medicines regulator. It was created by Federal Decree No. 28 of 2023 and took over the medicines role of the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP). Medicines normally have to be registered before they are used.

For a medicine that is not registered, the treating hospital asks for approval to import it for a specific patient. The hospital signs an undertaking that it takes responsibility for the medicine's use and shows that the medicine is registered in its country of origin. FDA approval makes this easier. The medicine stays inside the hospital system and cannot be resold.

Hospitals in Abu Dhabi are licensed by the Department of Health (DoH), and hospitals in Dubai by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA). Your hospital pharmacy knows which office handles the file for your hospital today.

The Abu Dhabi list covers coded products in that emirate, and we could not check the federal EDE directory. Ask the hospital pharmacy to confirm the current status with EDE and, for Abu Dhabi or Dubai hospitals, with DoH or DHA.

Who does what

  • Your lung specialist decides whether Jascayd is right for the patient and prescribes it.
  • The hospital pharmacy orders it through the local supply channel, or confirms the import route if the hospital is outside Abu Dhabi.
  • The Emirates Drug Establishment (EDE) regulates medicines at federal level and decides on any import request.
  • Boehringer Ingelheim makes Jascayd and decides where it is supplied.
  • Reserve Meds helps your family understand the steps and organize records. Where an import is needed, we arrange US supply through our licensed wholesale partner. We do not give medical advice.

Documents you will usually need

  • The lung specialist's report confirming IPF or PPF, with the high-resolution CT report
  • Recent lung function test results
  • A list of current medicines, especially pirfenidone, nintedanib or any strong CYP3A inhibitor, because they change the dose plan
  • For an import request: the hospital's request form, its signed declaration of responsibility, written patient consent, and proof of the US FDA approval (we can supply the US prescribing information)

Steps

  1. Assessment. Your lung specialist confirms that the patient fits the approved use.
  2. Prescription. The specialist prescribes it at a hospital that stocks it.
  3. Supply. The hospital pharmacy orders it locally, or files an import request if needed.
  4. Treatment. The patient starts treatment with regular follow-up.

How Reserve Meds helps

Reserve Meds is a digital health company. Medicines are supplied through a US-licensed pharmaceutical wholesale partner. We coordinate access to FDA-approved medicines only. We help your family understand the route, organize records and communication with the doctor and hospital, and, where an import is approved, arrange US supply and shipping through our licensed wholesale partner. Delivery follows the terms of the import approval and is confirmed in writing before you commit. We do not prescribe, and we do not decide what EDE approves.
